What's wrong?

Got my car back yesterday from installing the 5.0 Stroker on my car. The thing is the car only made 422 rwhp and I was expecting a lot more than that. Heck, my car dyno'ed 428 rwhp with the Procharger @ 10lbs (I still got the same pulley). Why did I loose 6 rwhp with a built motor?

Also, the car feels really sluggish at low RPM's. Most people have told me it's because the cam but I think it's wayyyy too sluggish. Any ideas on what might be going on?

The only other thing I can think of then would be the cam. The shop and "most people" seem to think that is the problem, are you sure it isn't?

I think it is your tuner. Go to a better shop.

Do you have any specifics on A/F - Timing - fuel?

Did your torque numbers go up? Strokers don't really do much in terms of HP, It's bore size that would impact it.

That's the thing, I'm not sure

As far as I know, yes

That's what I was thinking. Dang, is it hard to find a good tuner in Colorado. I'll bring it to Lethal Performance in San Antonio this weekend. I'm leaving to Texas today.

I know the A/F is set to 11.4 since I'm going to a lower elevation. I think it should go to 12.3 or so once I'm there. If I noticed on my gauge that the car is running too lean then I'll just plug in my SCT and raise my fuel by 2% or so.

I gotta check what my torque numbers were.

Good luck, if you take it to Lethal Performance, at least you'll know if it's the cam or the tune!

Low boost? Turn it up, but yes go to a new tuner. Just with the clutch problem you had with them makes me feel like they dont know Mustangs. Any Mustang shop would of got the clutch size right

Trying to think of shops in CO...

Yeah, chances are, if you rule out all external possibilities -- it's an incorrect cam shaft, or incorrectly lined up (which is very easy). That exact reason of incorrectly lined up is why I won't be putting mine back together myself...I've heard horror stories with 2Vs, can't imagine how bad I could fubar it up with twice as many cams.

Fuel system is upgraded accordingly, along with MAF/intake?

The problem with degreeing the cam is that there is only so much you can do. The timing gears are not adjustable - I suspect that if the cams were not aligned properly you would have PTV contact.

I've installed cams many times - only once did I degree the cams, this was after I had issues to begin with, and it didn't make a whole lot of difference. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, I'm just not sure that it would make that much of a difference.

Do you know what your cam profile is? Maybe the cam itself is not appropriate for the application? I'm still thinking that the numbers may not be that out of wack, unless, your torque numbers are super low.

Also - check your intake track for any signs of oil. I had a procharger and it puked oil all inside my intake - that in itself could cause problems.

They just swapped motors right? They did not do anything internally to the motor. So it has to be the place doing the tuning. The did say that you had a Roush Tune and they could not "unlock"it. They did order you the wrong clutch. Go to another place.

Yep, upgraded the fuel pump when I first installed the blower and I got a 90mm Lightning MAF
