Broken Wire

I found a broken wire that runs along side the positive battery cable and i can't figure out where the other end connects......
The wire is a small gage and is white with a red stripe

It looks like a black wire is broken too? What year is it?

Check the little red circle. That's the only white/pink wire I can find going along with the battery. Does the car still run/start?

its not black just dirty.thats the white and red wire that im referring to.
its an 01 stage 3.yes it starts and runs but battery dies after a few days

I see the white/pink one, but this one right here looks like it is a broken ground:

That one is also white and pink.......not sure if its just a ground wire

Well, if it starts, then I guess it isn't that WHT/PNK wire from the above diagram. I will try and find another one when I get home and have the repair CD.

I'm going to go take pictures, just have to unload the camera. Can't find that little wire in the diagrams, but it ends up going to the alternator (pretty sure).

Alright, here we go:

The small WH/PK wire:

Goes to that connector in the middle:

Then up to this small cable bundle:

Which goes to this bigger one:

Which goes to the alternator:


BUT

I did not see a WH/PK wire come out to there, although there is a cover. Maybe underneath it? I did find a (the?) small WH/PK come out of the big bundle to a smaller one behind the P/S fluid reservoir and go to this:


I am trying to find out what that connector is.

EDIT: That connector would be the Camshaft Position Sensor. So, the wire for that is broken.

Camshaft position sensor, unless I'm retarded.

I believe that wire goes to the alternator, which is further supported by the fact that it starts, runs, then battery dies.

I found out what it was at the same time you were typing. If it does go to the alternator (I don't see how it couldn't after looking though everything), that would be the problem. Thanks for the confirmation Mark!
