Getting new Mufflers welded in.. is the exhaust shop ripping me off?

Stupid ( to you guys ) question, but Im having an exhaust shop remove my current mufflers, and weld in new Hooker Mufflers...

They quoted me $50 over the phone, and gave me a +/- $5 gurantee( I mean, really.. think they are gonna do the work and be like HEY guess what?! We only have to charge you $45! yaa! We dont like money! ) so Im figuring $55...

Is that a decent price? I was told that $40 was pretty much the average.... I can cut the current mufflers off myself, but I want to weld the new ones in for a perfect seal... and I dont know anyone who could ( or I would trust ) weld them in..

    Any insights?

Too bad you aren't closer, we could get them done for free for you.

Actually $50 isn't all that bad I guess but have you heard the Hooker mufflers??? Just not sure why you would want to switch them out already.

Edit: I just read your other post, so I see the reasons now!

Nah that's not a bad price at all...

I had my Mac s/s muffs welded in for around $65. They had to cut some s/s piping and weld in an extension on both sides cause they were a little short then stock.

Sounds about right. It shouldn't be much more than $35 a muffler.

Thanks for the answers guys. Turns out they want $20 per muffler to weld in, and only want $15 to remove the old ones... so those prices seem more than fair to me.
