Copper showing through on two of my wheels...

I bought these from you guys a few seasons ago and now two of the wheels are showing the copper through the chrome in a few spots. Is there any type of warranty with the wheels via your store, or with Roush since they are authentic?

    Just thought I would ask.

    Thank you.

Bummer, copper being a part of the plating process is showing thru because the chome is wearing off, what do you use to clean them?
Do not think you have any recourse.

Just the usual chrome polish once in a while, car wash soap the usual.

Alot of Chrome polishes are ammonia based and mildly abrasive, maybe thats the problem.
    Sorry for the issue.

I guess if you spend 400.00 on a wheel you would assume you could polish them to keep them nice without worrying that you would burn through the chrome with a rag and some polish.

Seems a little off to me.

There are alum, Chrome wheel treatments, specific to these wheels, most are non abrasive Glazes.
I do mine at least twice a month X 4 yrs with no issues.
Also since the cast Rims are made offshore, the quality of the plating might be in question.

I'm surprised they even bothered to put copper on!

Cannot put chrome on alum as it will not plate, copper will.

Really? I've got some old chromed aluminum that went south from some older Harleys. Looked like it was done right on the aluminum, couldn't see any copper underneath. Always figured they had some way to plate it without copper.

You cannot Chrome plate aluminum direct, is a complicated process, as i recall the aluminum to be be plated first has to go thru an acid bath.Than polished.
than it needs to be nickel plated, than polished, next it has to be copper plated, polished again, than chrome plated.

So, the flaking chrome problem is now replaced by thin chrome that wears off with the actual cleaning and maintaining of the finish, nice.

    Chrome Wheels

We are completely out of the chrome wheels at this point. I have only had a couple issues through the years with the chrome peeling. It would be a warranty call for roush. To be honest I think they are completely out of wheels also.
    Thanks,

don't think this is the typical flaking or peeling issue, sounds like just poor thin chrome.

    Bill,

Would it be at all possible to place an inquiry for me? Or just say you did to make me feel better?

Honestly if they say no then fine, but I would be willing to do what ever I need to fix this now very desirable wheel, kind of why I got them in the first place.
