Story by Kev (Roush2k)
I purchased my Roush at Frontier Ford on February 21, 2000. After my 1987 Mustang GT 5.0 Convertible was totaled - parked in front of my office, semi 'forgot' to set his parking brake [ouch] - I was on the search for a new car. I was so bummed that my '87 got smashed because it had lots of emotional value. It was clean and ran like it was new. But once I found the Roush Mustang, I knew what I HAD to have.
The sales experience went pretty smooth. Could not test drive it until price and credit approval was complete. Not even necessary. I knew what I wanted.
The finance office was the typical pressure for warranties, undercoating, paint sealer (my comment: "If this was necessary, are you saying that Ford puts out an inferior paint?" - didn't purchase), and the usual stuff. All I wanted was an alarm installed. Ended up with a screaming deal on a 6 year/60k mile extended warranty.
Returned the next week for the alarm install/upgrade. I also asked at that time about some rubbing I had been hearing from the front end. I had figured out that it was the right front wheel rubbing on the sway bar. They said that they would look into it.
They had my car two days. When I picked it up, they said that the Roush guy wasn't in that week, so I would have to take it back in to have the rubbing investigated. They installed the alarm (had the microwave sensor installed for top down weather), but they didn't install the siren - just sets of the horn when activated. Two months later, still trying to get that straightened out.
I have not had a single problem with the car mechanically other than the tire rub. Roush has informed me that they are working on solving the problem, and I have heard that they have discontinued the 18x9 wheels on the front until they can resolve it.
Summary - sales went fine. They sure like it when you spend your money. After the sale, I have had multiple problems trying to get them to take care of me. More ramblings on that soon. |
