The Scratch - and the Fix

January 19, 2001 - The Scratch Happens
Below are pics of my car after some hoodlum decided he didn't like my paint job as it was. He took it upon himself to do some custom finish work for me. Well, needless to say, I didn't appreciate his work much. The first row of pics are from the day I took it into the bodyshop for repairs. Please excuse the dust :-(
As you can see, the scratch was pretty deep. I rubbed and rubbed, but Zaino just wasn't taking care of it for me. I took it into my insurance adjuster, and was quoted almost $1000 for the repair! The scratch started at the door, and ended up on the fender. The door scratch wasn't as bad as the fender. While it was going to be at the shop, I decided to have the front fascia, side skirts, and a small ding on the door touched up.
March 26 - Getting Prepped

This is my car in the cocoon stage. Someday it will hatch and become a Roush Mustang (I hope). The body work is being done by Ken at Platinum Auto Body. Give Ken a call at 408.234.8868. They have a great booth, and Ken has ample skill. He has not only taken care of the scratch, but done repairs on the front fascia, door, and both side skirts.

March 30 - Ready for paint!
Primered and ready to go. It was really difficult seeing my car like this! The work that has been done is incredible. Everything that has been sanded is smooth as glass. All of the damaged areas are so clean. Ken has filled and sanded some little pits that were hardly even noticeable. It is going into the paint booth today, and I should get it back this weekend.
March 31 - We have paint!
The paint was shot on Friday night, and it looks incredible!! The photos above show Ken putting the final finishes on the hood. There were a couple of small scratches that he was able to buff out. I could not believe the amount of work that went into this. Even *after* the paint was applied, Ken spent more than 10 hours doing re-assembly, sanding, buffing, polishing, and washing. The results are awesome!! Check the pics below. Thanks Ken and Platinum!!! Give Ken a call - 408.234.8868. He can take care of your Roush body kit install and paint as well as repair from scratches and dings.
