Livonia, MI (July 7, 2004) –
Roush Performance will offer a special edition,
limited production Mustang to commemorate both the
40th Anniversary of the Mustang and the final build
of the SN-95 Ford body style Mustang.
The commemorative edition will be
called the 440A.
The 440A nameplate represents: the
horsepower (400hp), the 40th production year of
the Mustang, the total volume produced (40 units)
and an “A” designation that this Mustang
is an anniversary edition. The 440A features 400hp,
which is achieved by an aftermarket addition of
the following automotive respiratory features: high
flow air filter, smaller supercharger pulley and
a high flow exhaust.
“When these upgrades are combined
with the Roush inter-cooled, roots-style supercharger,
it produced a horsepower jump that we felt was significant
enough to create a commemorative edition that honored
40 years of performance excellence,” said
Larry Parker, President of Roush Performance.
Once plans for the 440A were announced,
Wayne Hammond, General Manager of Brandon Ford in
Tampa, FL, stepped up and ordered the entire 40
unit production.
“We’ve been the top-selling
Roush dealer for a few years. A majority of our
customers buy Roush vehicles as a collector car.
When it was announced that the horsepower would
be significantly high and that the production would
be significantly low, we wanted to capture the entire
market,” said Hammond.
The Roush 440A package upgrade is
available on coupe and convertible Mustangs and
will carry a package upgrade MSRP of $26,000.
Roush Performance is the retail street-performance
division of Roush Enterprises, which is also the
parent company of Roush Racing. Roush operates Five
Nextel Cup, Two Busch and two Craftsman Truck series
teams in NASCAR.
