Kev Finally Gets to See One!

Wow.

Again, Wow. What a beautiful car.

I got a call on Thursday from Frontier Ford. Tony called to tell me that a Stage 3 was just unloaded from the truck. He invited me to come down to have a look. I went to the showroom on Saturday to have a look. As I told Tony, my expectations were exceeded.

They had gotten in a Roush Stage 3 Rally Package coupe. The first thing I noticed was the rear exhaust. This one did not have the signature side exhaust and skirts. It had a standard GT rear exiting exhaust with the standard GT rear bumper. Although I am a big fan of the side exhaust, I must say that this still looked great.

The next thing that jumped out at me was the Eaton Gen-4 blower poking it's head above the engine compartment. It was much nicer than the protos I had seen in pictures. It seemed to be perched real high on the engine, and the black color with the Roush logo was just awesome. Almost makes a guy not want to close the Cobra hood that comes standard on the Stage 3. Also very noticable in the front of the car was the new front valance. This is a complete replacement of the front bumper, as the other stages are additions to the front bumper. The round fog lights and the screened opening in front for the intercooler went well with the car.

Another feature that I was very attracted to was the new Stage 3 badging. There was a new Stage 3 rear badge on the rear trunk lid, square Roush logo badges in place of the GT emblems on the sides, a serialized plaque in the engine compartment, and a plaque below the stereo, just in front of the shifter (see pics page).

Sitting inside this beauty makes you want to start it up and go. The Roush leather seats are very comfortable. They are recovered standard seats with additional padding on the sides to grip you and your butt. Also, the white-faced gauges are a great addition. They have the Roush name on the gauges. This model also had the Roush aluminum pedals and floor mats.

Interestingly, the Stage 3 seemed more "done up" than the other Roush Mustangs I have had seen, including my Stage 2. The additional badging, as well as other stickers (including belt routing and recommended tire pressure sticker in glove box) made it seem that Roush was more involved with this car. It is surprising what a couple dollars in stickers can do for a first impression.

All in all, it was a great visit. It made me even more excited to take delivery of mine in June! I was at the dealer for quite some time, and there was a Cobra R in the showroom as well. I was so enthralled with the Stage 3 that I didn't even take any pics of the R. Oops :-) See the pics page to see all of the pictures I took of the Stage 3, as well as a couple of other Roush Vehicles that Frontier had on their lot.
